The hermit project

The Hermit Project is a room constructed in the middle of the gallery out of 2×4’s and drywall. From the outside it looks like nothing more then a newly constructed room. However, upon entering through a small door the viewer finds themselves in a crowded and claustrophobic interior. The interior is designed to look as if someone had lived there in isolation for 40 years. It is comprised of furniture, books, a wood burning stove, kitchen ware, cloths, and various artifacts found in flea markets and thrift stores. The walls are covered in wall paper with photographs and fixtures which suggest a life long collection of memories and belongings of a fictitious hermit.
