Open Studio

In conjunction with my new Tom Judd Editions project, I am planning on having a two day open studio event in early December. (December 5th & 6th, 12 – 5pm) This will include previews of new print editions, works on paper, and other available pieces for sale.

Due to the COVID constraints, it will be by reservation only, and we are planning on keeping it to no more than six people at once. The studio is large and very well ventilated. However, out of caution, we will of course have hand sanitizer, and ask people to wear masks. Interested parties please be in touch with me as soon as possible, so we can put together a schedule that will work for everyone.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

While doing an inventory of my studio, I found four more canvases that were in the original Friday, Saturday, Sunday restaurant mural. I think all four pieces are very strong. Weaver Lilley and I are offering them at reasonable prices. Let me know if there is any interest.

Subway Mural

A quick update on the subway mural. The mural itself was completed in September, however, it was promptly covered in white opaque plastic to protect it until the “Grand Opening”. A sign of the times, SEPTA was concerned that the mural might be vandalized before an official event could take place. The physical station itself is just now getting completed, and sometime in December they will be taking down the tarps, and we will be photographing the finished product in preparation for an extensive catalogue.

David Seltzer and Lisa Roberts have kindly offered to fund a beautiful catalog that documents the entire process including the initial presentation drawings, the fabrication, the installation, and the final photographic documentation of the completed project by esteemed photographer Stuart Rome. This beautiful catalogue will accompany an exhibition about this project, scheduled for late February at the Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill.

Right now, because of various COVID restrictions, the idea of an opening reception at the subway station for the mural is tenuous at best. SEPTA is describing it as a ribbon cutting ceremony with various public leaders and contributors to the project. But stay tuned because I might organize a subway ride where we all pile on at 2nd and Spring Garden and take the short ride to 5th and Market and celebrate.

We will keep you posted on those plans.

Bullfrog Panorama

We had a terrific opening reception for the Bullfrog Panorama +3 exhibit at Globe Dye Works on October 17th. The exhibit included the forty foot Bullfrog Panorama as well as some other large canvases of the same sensibility. Thanks to everyone who attended. I also want to thank my friends at Globe Dye Works that created such a beautiful gallery space and for letting me use it for this installation.
