Tijuana Weekend

Tijuana dances with a blatant humanity, a desperate refugee camp, while San Diego floats serenely above the fray, sparkling anonymously in the distance. The “Shack” is an authentic looking rendition of the temporary housing found in the hills of Tijuana and hidden from view surrounding the wealthy suburbs in parts of San Diego. It includes found rusted tin, signage, tires and tarps. Upon entering the viewer finds themselves in a world that is both surprising and discomforting. The inside is in stark contrast to the exterior, reflecting the contrast between these two cultures.
